Testimonials
Deciding to work with Loretta Leslie has been one of the best decisions I've ever made. With her literary expertise and attention to the finest details, not only did she catch every error, she made my debut novel better in many ways. She provided a thorough explanation and coached me to help me grow as a writer. One of the best things about Loretta's work, in my opinion, is that when amending the mistakes and suggesting new lines, she does not compromise your voice, and that's something that most editors fail to deliver. She is a true professional, knowledgeable, responsive and reliable. She has always replied to my emails within hours, even after she completed her work, answering my questions in meticulous detail, not only in the field of editing but in other aspects of the journey as well.
I cannot recommend her highly enough. Just please don’t hire her when I need her as I am definitely going to go back to her for my second book.

Editing another’s script takes an understanding of the writer’s creative talent without influencing the original message of a poem/s or written work.
The relationship is built on trust and includes the abilities of both editor and writer to work through this process, leaving the writer to judge which recommendations to use.
I feel Loretta’s editing of my book ‘Sharing love’ more than met these objectives, with the use of notations, suggestions and correcting grammar very helpful and easy to follow.
Loretta had thoughtfully read through my script, and was able to point out where the phases or words of one poem were also used in another, and made great suggestions with an alternative.
The overall result I believe, with her help, was to achieve a superior finished work, and one which would enhance the final publication.
I would like to recommend Loretta to everyone who is looking to have their works edited by her.

I interviewed several editor's in my search for an editor for the sequel to my first novel, "An Abduction Revelation". Lorles fee, experience and willingness to read the original (at no cost mind you) enticed me to give her a shot. I was a bit skeptical at first because of the cultural differences, but she convinced me that her experiences with American writers and our culture would not be an problem and it wasn't.
She did a manuscript appraisal, an edit, and then the proofread. Boy, was I ever thankful I choose her. Her manuscript appraisal blew my mind.
She lifted my story to greater heights than I could have imagined. Her ideas and suggestions made my story so much better. She was truthful (which at times was a bit painful) and honest. I suspect she spent many more hours on my manuscript then she first anticipated, but she stuck with her original fee. I highly recommend her work and devotion she gives to her clients.
Thanks again ...

Alien Abduction II
Before Loretta Leslie became involved, my manuscript was in rather poor shape. Despite my best efforts and having gone over it several times, there was no way it could be considered ready for submission to a publisher.
Loretta caught all the errors in grammar; pointed out flaws in character consistency, and highlighted timeline contradictions. She made suggestions regarding passages that had become info-dumps, helping me transform them so they enhanced the narrative.
Her final summary was detailed and demonstrated that she had really read the book. This was the feedback that helped shape the book into something publishable.
I would not hesitate to recommend Loretta Leslie. She is eagle-eyed, accurate and provides the supportive, no-nonsense feedback and critique that I find invaluable.

Stormy Weather
I had been working for almost two years on my first novel, a Sci-Fi adventure, which had a working title of "Planet Z10-Abandoned in a Hostile Alien Environment". It started out life as a short story built around some images I had created. Sadly, I had reached an impasse. My first serious attempt at writing a novel seemed dead in the water.
In an attempt to breathe some life back into it, I decided to seek the help of a professional. Accordingly, I interviewed several editors in the hope that I would come across one with whom I could build a rapport. After all is said and done, it really comes down to trust. However, I digress. In my search, I came across the website of Loretta L who runs LorLes Editing.
I found the information on her website to be refreshingly down to earth. No pretensions. No sign of any over inflated ego. I admit that I was somewhat sceptical. She sounded almost too good to be true. Nonetheless, her fee structure, experience, when combined with the testimonials from other authors and, after speaking with her, her enthusiasm and willingness to take on an unpublished novice like myself won me over. I was convinced that here was an editor that I could work with. So I decided to give her a shot.
Loretta did a manuscript appraisal, an edit and then the proofread. When I received the appraisal, it took me three days before I built up the courage to open it and read her words of wisdom.
She was truthful (very and times brutally honest which was more than a tad painful) and I needed to hear it. Bottom-line, I am so thankful that I chose her. Her manuscript appraisal knocked my proverbial socks off. She gave me insights into how to properly develop my story from a piece of hack writing into a work that delivers to its intended readership.
To say that through her guidance, she lifted my story to far greater heights than I could have ever contemplated, would be an understatement. I cannot thank her enough for her ideas, advice and suggestions all of which made my story so much stronger and readable.
I am certain that she spent many many more hours on my manuscript than she told me, yet she did not charge me a cent more than the contracted price. Whilst on the subject of fees, I would have to say that what she delivered was worth three times what she charged me and I would have been happy to have paid. up
My manuscript is yet to see the light of day, as I still have much work to do to complete the required rewrites and to implement some (but not all) of the suggested changes. One of the real benefits of working with Loretta, is that she has a deep understanding of the creative process involved in written storytelling.
Not only that, but she comprehends the subtle nuances that form the very essence of what the writer initially set out to convey, to the reader, by their words. She accepts and acknowledges that some elements of a story or a poem are very close to the writer's heart and to change those elements would be to move away from the core structure of what the writer set out to achieve.
I highly recommend LorLes Editing to any writer (novice or published) who is looking for a no nonsense professional editor.
Her work ethic and devotion to her clients is unparalleled.
